Fifty Year Legacy: Blackstone River belongs to the people.

“Operation ZAP is an attempt to clean up the litter and the debris from along the 51 miles of this beautiful river, and primarily, we hope, through that effort, to put in a series of parks along its banks to enhance the quality of life in this community.” -David M Rosser

“Operation ZAP was a spectacular achievement.  But it was only the beginning.

Since Operation ZAP, we’ve maintained a watchdog force along the river to halt any further pollution.

We have also seeded and planted another 4 miles of parks along the river.

And we have drafted and submitted legislation designed to protect the flood plains.

Once again, the Blackstone River belongs to the people.  And the people must continue to protect and preserve its natural beauty.

Operation ZAP didn’t end on September the 9th [1972]…

It only began.”  - David M Rosser

All of the above are organizations.

ZAP is not and never was an organization.  Celebrating ZAP50
